Bangladesh Creates History by Defeating India in First T20 Match

New Delhi, November 3, 2019: In a thrilling encounter at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium, the Bangladesh team created history by defeating India by 7 wickets in the first T20 match. This victory marked Bangladesh's first-ever win against India in T20 internationals.

Mushfiqur Rahim's unbeaten 60-run match-winning innings powered Bangladesh to chase down India's target of 149 runs with only 3 wickets lost in 19.3 overs.

In today's match, Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah won the toss and chose to field first. Rohit Sharma scored just 9 runs off 5 balls for India, followed by K.L. Rahul, who was dismissed for 15 runs. Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer added a 34-run partnership for the fourth wicket. India managed to score 148 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

Chasing the target of 148 runs, Bangladesh lost Liton Das's wicket in the first over for just 7 runs, bowled out by Deepak Chahar. Debutant Mohammad Naim and Soumya Sarkar then stabilized the innings with a 46-run partnership for the second wicket before Naim was dismissed for 26 runs by Chahal.

Soumya and Mushfiqur Rahim built a crucial 60-run partnership for the third wicket, bringing Bangladesh closer to victory. Soumya scored 39 runs off 35 balls, including 1 four and 2 sixes, before being dismissed. However, Mushfiqur Rahim and captain Mahmudullah's aggressive batting saw Bangladesh home with three balls to spare.

Rahim was declared the Man of the Match for his 60 runs off 43 balls, which included 8 fours and 1 six. Captain Mahmudullah remained unbeaten with 15 runs off 7 balls, sealing the victory for Bangladesh.
