Bhadrak (28 January 2024): The two-day literary and cultural event 'Salandi Sahitya Sangam 2024' held at Bhadrak Town Hall concluded today.
On the second day, the event commenced with a classical dance performance by the dancers of Sai Nrutya Academy under the direction of Guru Pushpamitra Behera. The gathering was then ceremonially inaugurated by the event's director Dr. Radhabinod Nayak with a traditional lamp lighting ceremony.
During the session moderated by literary figure Pragnya Pravartika Das, Prof. Kailash Pattnayak and Giribala Mahanti discussed the role of spouses in literature and creation, under the topic 'Kahé Giribala, Sahé Kailash'. Editor of Prema Pruthibi, Kailash Panda, felicitated the discussion.
In another session, Shakti Mahanti moderated a discussion on 'Men in Feminism' with poets Ashish Kumar Gadnayak, Mausumi Das, Swagatika Mishra, and Shubhashree Subhasmita Mishra, focusing on the independence and feminism of both men and women. Poet Panchanan Nayak felicitated the session. Senior storyteller and flutist Prakash Mahapatra engaged in a conversation with Saroj Bal. The audience was mesmerized by Mahapatra's melodious flute tunes and captivated by his stories. Senior storyteller Dr. Shailendra Mahapatra felicitated Prakash Mahapatra.
The 'Kichhi Katha Kichhi Kabita' program featured poetry readings by poets Kamal Kumar Mahanti, Senapati Pradyumna Keshari, Sanjay Bhatt, Suresh Nayak, Sri Govind, Tapan Mahapatra, Swarup Nayak, Subrat Das, Pradeepta Mahanti, Sangram Keshari Senapati, and Angurbala Parida, who shared their views on stories and poetry under the moderation of Vijay Mallick.
In the second session, Kishor Panigrahi moderated the event, and Satyaranjan Praharaj's second poetry book 'Aprem Jeteka' was unveiled. Amitabh Khilara conducted a discussion on 'Literature and Politics' with active political and social figures such as Panchanan Nayak, Dr. Radharani Mahapatra, Gautam Buddha Das, and Shakti Mahanti. Popular short films 'Byase Shunuch!' directed by Dipanwita Dashmahapatra and 'Balmiki' directed by Ashutosh Pattnayak were screened. Well-known Odia actor and director Shakti Baral felicitated actor Shovan Samal, writer and cinematographer Biswajit Kuladi, and director Siddharth Gautam.
In the recitation program, poets Manisha Bishwal, Pratibha Khilara, Bichitrananda Jena, Gauri Sahu, Sanjay Panda, Patitapaban Pani, Pradeep Bandha, Satyabrata Sethi, Soumyashree Panigrahi, Antaryami Maharana, and Ashish Kumar Mishra recited their poems. The poems were reviewed by Dr. Mamata Sahu. Senior poets Arun Khilara, Dr. Prabhat Nalini Mahapatra, and Jharna Pattnayak were felicitated.
During the concluding ceremony, chaired by Pabitra Panigrahi, TimesPass Director Saroj Bal gave the final touch. Advisor and Executive Committee members of Salandi Sahitya Sangam were felicitated, and Ratikanata Raut was honored with the Sahitya Sakha Samman. Members Dr. Vikas Narayan Nanda, Prof. Satyajit Mishra, Preetipadma Das, Kisan Pradhan, Surya Narayan Majhi, Jyotishree Raut, Hiranbati Sahu, Sumitali Samal, Ajay Kumar Nayak, and Dakshina Hansada contributed to the program's management.
