Every year, this day marks the welcoming of summer with the traditional dish of Pakhala, a fermented rice dish that is a staple in Odia cuisine. People come together to enjoy Pakhala, and social media buzzes with songs, poems, and short stories dedicated to this beloved dish.
This year, a special Odia song celebrating Pakhala has been released. The song beautifully describes how Pakhala is an integral part of Odia life. Odia engineer Shashwat Kumar Swain penned the song, while Odia youth Manas Ranjan Dash from Pune composed the music and lent his voice to the track. Manaswini Sahu's engaging video on Pakhala complements the song perfectly. The song was released on Manas Ranjan Dash's YouTube channel on the evening of March 17.
