Bureau 26 February 2026: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi laid the foundation stone for the new 'Odisha Bhavan' at Chanakyapuri in New Delhi, marking an important step towards strengthening the state’s presence in the national capital.
Sharing the development on social media, the Chief Minister said the upcoming building would be more than just a government facility. He described the new Odisha Bhavan as a symbol of Odia identity in the national capital that would provide a renewed sense of representation and pride for the state.
Majhi further stated that the Bhavan is expected to serve as a welcoming hub for the Odia diaspora, visitors from Odisha, and officials travelling to Delhi. The facility will offer accommodation and support services, while also acting as a cultural and emotional connect for Odias living away from their home state.
The initiative is seen as part of the state government’s broader efforts to enhance infrastructure for citizens outside Odisha and promote Odia culture and identity at the national level.
The new Odisha Bhavan is expected to strengthen administrative coordination and provide improved facilities for residents and visitors from Odisha in New Delhi.
