Retired Government Employees’ Association Holds Election and Silver Jubilee Celebration in Bhadrak

Bhadrak, February 26, 2026: The Bhadrak District Retired Government Employees’ Association organized its office-bearers’ election and Silver Jubilee celebration at Nityananda Bhawan in Kuansa, drawing the participation of members, guests, and well-wishers.

The programme began with registration of members, students, teachers, and participants conducted by Anadi Charan Das, Karunakara Upadhyay, Basanta Kumar De, Bikash Kumar Mohanty, Rajendra Patra, and Baman Charan Rout. The election of the association’s new office-bearers was conducted under the supervision of election officers Deputy Collector Swetashree Mohapatra, Headmaster Bhima Charan Parida, and Headmaster Saroj Kumar Pradhan.

In the second session, Vice-President Shantanu Kumar Rout invited guests to the dais. The Silver Jubilee celebration was held under the presidentship of Association President Digambar Mohanty. Deputy Collector Swetashree Mohapatra attended as chief guest, while Dr. Brajamohan Mishra and Dr. Rabindra Kumar Nayak joined as guests of honour. Babaji Charan Panda delivered the keynote address, with General Secretary Prabhakar Mallik and Working President Udayanath Mohanty also present on the dais.

The celebration was inaugurated by lighting a ceremonial lamp before the photograph of Lord Jagannath. Vedic chanting was performed by Pandit Ghanashyam Lenka, while students and teachers of Gandhi Odisha Balashram presented the opening song “Bande Utkala Janani.” Guest introductions were delivered by Ajit Kumar Nayak, followed by a welcome address by President Digambar Mohanty.

On the occasion, the association’s Silver Jubilee souvenir “Uttaran” was formally released by the chief guest and other dignitaries. The editorial note of the souvenir was presented by Dr. Golak Bihari Sahu, while the organisational report was placed by General Secretary Prabhakar Mallik. The association also felicitated invited guests during the programme.

In her address, chief guest Swetashree Mohapatra highlighted the commitment, service, sacrifice, and guidance of senior citizens toward society. Dr. Brajamohan Mishra discussed the role of elderly citizens in addressing contemporary social challenges, while Dr. Rabindra Kumar Nayak spoke about health issues related to ageing and the importance of awareness and preventive care in daily life. Keynote speaker Babaji Charan Panda emphasized spiritual engagement and social service as meaningful contributions of senior citizens. Working President Udayanath Mohanty appealed for unity and collective cooperation in strengthening the association’s activities.

Several senior members aged above eighty, including Prof. Dr. Radha Binod Nayak, Rabindra Kumar Mohanty, Sarbeswar Pattnaik, Shashi Bhushan Jena, Pyarimohan Behera, Prabhakar Mallik, and member Shobhanika Mohanty, were felicitated with shawls, citations, and bouquets. Teachers Bijay Kumar Behera of Bhadrak Government High School and Lipsita Biswal of Bhadrak District School were also honoured. The felicitation ceremony was coordinated by Laxman Kumar Mohanty, Haramohan Kuanr, Muktikanta Mahapatra, Ramachandra Kar, Ramakanta Nayak, Yudhishthir Barik, and Badal Kishore Mahapatra.

Using interest generated from fixed deposits contributed by members, the association presented Pratibha Samman awards to 20 meritorious students from different schools who secured top marks in the 2025 High School Certificate Examination conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha, and in school-level examinations. The students were honoured with trophies, certificates, and bouquets by the guests.

A community service programme titled Daridra Narayan Seva was conducted under the leadership of Taraka Das. The event was successfully coordinated with the support of numerous members including Eng. Abhimanyu Barik, Arun Mitra, Daitari Das, Kashinath Sahu, Dr. Bhagabat Tripathy, Dr. Manindra Mohanty, Kshirod Chandra Mishra, Sangram Sahu, Dr. Kshirod Kumar Samal, Kamalakanta Swain, Prashanta Kumar De, Eng. Kamalakanta Behera, Snehalata Behera, Gitarani Aich, Sangita De, Gitarani Mohanty, Kashinath Panda, Dushasan Mohanty, Chandra Mohan Mohanty, Vidyadhar Das, Somanath Nayak, Aditya Kumar Goswami, Ramesh Chandra Das, Biswanath Nayak, Nrusingha Charan Panda, Gayadhar Panda, Dr. Nirmal Chandra Panda, Basanta Kumar Sahanai, Upendra Nath Rout, Mamataz Khan, Satyabhama Padhi, Pankajini Mahapatra, Gita Kumar Parida, Harekrushna Sahu, Gopal Charan Sethi, Bir Narayan Das, Binay Kumar Panda, Dr. Sailendra Narayan Padhi, Bijay Kumar Nayak, Eng. Representatives from Dhamnagar zone led by Ramachandra Sahu and from Agarpada zone led by Santosh Kumar Mohanty were also present.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Karunakara Upadhyay.
