Supreme Court Delivers Historic Ayodhya Verdict

Bureau (9 November 2019): The long-awaited verdict on the Ayodhya Ram Janmabhoomi case, which has been ongoing for 70 years, was delivered today by the honorable Supreme Court. Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, on his last day in office, announced the historic judgment.

The hearing commenced at 10:30 AM, with a five-judge bench led by Chief Justice Gogoi delivering a unanimous verdict in just 30 minutes, bringing an end to the decades-old dispute. The Supreme Court ruled that a Ram Temple will be built on the disputed site in Ayodhya, and an alternative 5-acre plot will be allocated for the construction of a mosque.

The verdict has elicited mixed reactions across the country. While the Hindu community has welcomed the decision, some discontent can be seen among the Muslim community. Following the judgment, law enforcement in Uttar Pradesh has been tightened, and internet services have been suspended. Police and administration across the country remain on high alert.
