Bhubaneswar (16 January 2025): The Odisha government has announced a monthly financial assistance scheme for all Padma award recipients in the state. Each awardee will receive ₹30,000 per month. This announcement was made by the Odisha state government, specifying that the aid will commence from January 25th.
The decision, initially taken earlier, received cabinet approval on Thursday, according to a statement released by the state's Department of Culture. The Chief Minister, Mohan Charan Majhi, had earlier announced this initiative, and it has now been officially approved.
The scheme aims to honor the 55 living Padma awardees in the state, who have significantly contributed to various fields and have been awarded Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, or Padma Vibhushan. The total annual expenditure for this initiative is estimated to be ₹2 crores.
