Odisha Forms Steering Committee to Implement National Education Policy

Bhubaneswar (16 January 2025): The Odisha government has formed a steering committee to implement the National Education Policy (NEP) in the state. The committee, comprising 16 members, has been established to execute the NEP effectively.

Professor Nityananda Pradhan has been appointed as the chairman of the committee. The members of the committee will prepare the curriculum draft under the National Education Policy.

Starting from the upcoming academic year, the National Education Policy 2020 will be implemented. Based on the educational standards at the primary level, Godavari Model Primary Schools will be established in each panchayat.

The National Education Policy will emphasize digital education. Vocational education will be prioritized at the school level, which will increase employment opportunities. Additionally, the curriculum draft will include Odia language, art, and culture.

From the next academic year, teaching based on the NEP will commence in the state. Minister of Mass Education Nityananda Gand has issued a statement regarding this. He mentioned that the NEP will start from Balvatika.

Workshops related to the NEP will be held on January 21, 22, and 23. The minister stated that this will bring revolutionary changes to Odisha's education system.
