Bhubaneswar (July 10, 2024): Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi chaired the second state cabinet meeting today, announcing five significant decisions aimed at comprehensive development in agriculture, labor, Odia identity, and quality education.
1. Minimum Wage Increase: The minimum daily wages for unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled, and highly skilled workers have been increased from ₹352, ₹392, ₹442, and ₹502 to ₹450, ₹500, ₹550, and ₹600 respectively.
2. Odia Identity Corpus Fund: A dedicated corpus fund of ₹200 crore has been established for the promotion and protection of Odia identity, including the construction of Odia Asmita Bhavan, establishment of the Odia Translation Academy, development of the Paika Rebellion Memorial, and international recognition of the Bali Jatra festival.
3. School Education Program: The Odisha School Education Program Authority will publish the selection list of 18,788 candidates, expediting the recruitment process under the direction of the School and Mass Education Department.
4. Irrigation Projects: Efforts will be made to operationalize 2,065 defunct irrigation projects and strengthen 10,152 existing ones, covering a total of 286,178 hectares. The state government will allocate ₹1,084.38 crore over the next five years for this initiative.
5. PM Kisan Scheme: All eligible farming families in the state will receive financial assistance under the PM Kisan scheme, following guidelines from the central government.
