Bhadrak (2 May 2026): Eminent Odia poet Pravat Nalini Mahapatra passed away following a sudden cardiac arrest, leaving the literary community in deep shock and grief.
Dr. Mahapatra, known for her contributions as a poet, short story writer, and critic, was also a respected academician and a popular lecturer. Despite her relatively young age, she had established herself as a prominent voice in contemporary Odia literature.
According to sources, the incident occurred on the occasion of Buddha Purnima while she was attending a prayer meeting at the Sai Temple in Bhadrak. She reportedly experienced chest pain during the gathering and was rushed to a hospital, but doctors declared her dead on arrival.
