Bureau (April 18, 2020): The esteemed Odia literary figure, playwright, storyteller, novelist, critic, and Odisha Sahitya Akademi awardee Ratnakar Chaini passed away at the age of 74 at his residence in Badambadi, Cuttack. Chaini, who established himself as a notable literary organizer and educator, left an indelible mark on the Odia literary world.
A well-known name in Odia literature, Chaini served as the president of Sanskar Bharati and Utkal Sahitya Samaj in 2010. He published 111 books and received the Odisha Sahitya Akademi Award for his book "Kalankita Surya" in 1977. Over the years, he was honored with several awards and recognitions for his contributions to literature.
