Bhubaneswar (August 10, 2024): The Institute of Agricultural Sciences (IAS) at Siksha 'O' Anusandhan University (SOA) hosted the 6th Swaminathan Memorial Lecture Series. The event featured Dr. Shyamal Kumar Chakrabarti, Professor and Scientist from the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) in New Delhi, as the keynote speaker. Dr. Chakrabarti discussed the state of hybrid seeds in India and the modern scientific production of various crops.
IAS Dean Professor Santosh Kumar Raut highlighted the objectives of the event, dedicated to the memory of Professor Swaminathan. Professor Saroj Kumar Mohanty delivered the welcome address, while Professor Shantanu Swain, Head of the Seed Science Department, discussed the promotion of hybrid seeds in Odisha and expressed gratitude to Dr. Chakrabarti.
The event was coordinated by Professor Rajiv Kumar Behera, with a vote of thanks given by Professor Prabhat Kumar Sadhangi. The lecture series was attended by heads of departments, faculty members, and research students from various disciplines.
