Bhadrak, June 4, 2025: A severe bike accident occurred at the Khamana Pola turning point on the Bant-Barikapur road in Bhadrak district, leaving two young men critically injured. The victims were rushed to the Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.
The incident took place around 2 PM when the two youths were riding a scooter from Nilok towards Bant. At the Khamana Pola turning point, the scooter lost balance and crashed, resulting in serious injuries to both the rider and the pillion. Passersby rescued the injured and called for an ambulance, but due to a delay in its arrival, they were initially taken to Bant in another vehicle before being transferred to Bhadrak for further treatment.
Locals have raised concerns about frequent accidents at this turning point, which has claimed many lives in the past. They allege that the administration has failed to install warning signs or speed bumps to mitigate risks. Two months ago, the Public Works Department had initiated road widening to straighten the turn, but the project remains incomplete, with neither the contractor nor departmental officials showing any urgency to address the issue.
