18th June 2025: National Institute of Technology
Rourkela (NIT) Rourkela will celebrate its 22nd
Convocation on Friday, 20th June 2025. In a press conference held
today, 18th June 2025, at NIT Rourkela, Prof. K. Umamaheshwar Rao,
Director of the Institute, informed that Shri Uday A. Kaole,
Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Mahanadi Coalfields Limited, will grace
the occasion as the Chief Guest.
In addition to this, the CMD of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Shri S. N.
Subrahmanyan who is also the Chairperson of the Board of Governors, NIT
Rourkela, will virtually address the gathering.
To honour academic excellence, the Institute will award 8 Institute Gold Medals, 6 Endowment Gold Medals, 7 Endowment Awards, and 59 Silver Medals to branch toppers of the graduating batch of the year 2024. Additionally, NIT Rourkela will recognise its distinguished alumni who have made significant contributions in their respective fields and created a broader impact on society. Another key highlight of this year’s convocation is the graduating batch of 93 international students. Among them, 72 are male and 21 are female students, representing a diverse group from seven countries. This includes 4 students from the United States, 5 from Afghanistan, 3 from Sri Lanka, 5 from Bhutan, 21 from Bangladesh, 30 from Nepal, and 25 Non-Resident Indian (NRI) students from India.
The press meet event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dean
(Academic) Prof. R. C. Pradhan. The Press and Public Relations Committee (PPRC)
of NIT Rourkela led by Chairperson Prof. Shishir Kumar Sahu organized the
event.
