Bureau, August 2, 2025: In a proud moment for Odia cinema, ace cinematographer Subhranshu Das’ directorial debut, Pushkara, has been adjudged the Best Odia Film at the 71st National Film Awards. The prestigious awards were announced on Friday by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, in the presence of feature film jury chairperson Ashutosh Gowarikar and non-feature film jury chairperson P Sheshadri.

Based on writer Shankar Tripathy’s acclaimed Odia novel Nadabindu, Pushkara stars Sabyasachi Mishra and Supriya. Since its release in 2023, the film has garnered widespread praise from both critics and audiences for its compelling storytelling and cinematic brilliance. The recognition at the National Film Awards underscores Subhranshu Das’ successful transition from cinematography to direction, marking a significant milestone for Odia cinema on the national stage.
