Inter-District Dacoity Gang Busted: Major Breakthrough by Bhadrak Police

Bhadrak (March 2, 2026): In a major success, police in Bhadrak have busted an inter-district dacoity gang involved in multiple robbery and snatching cases across several districts of Odisha.

Acting on specific inputs, the Town Police Station arrested four notorious criminals linked to a series of thefts in both urban and rural police station areas of Bhadrak. Two other accused persons are currently absconding.

Among those arrested is Daya Das, a history-sheeter with previous cases of murder and dacoity registered against him. The other three arrested individuals were reportedly operating as part of the same gang. While the four arrested accused are residents of Kendrapara district, the two absconding suspects are said to be from Jajpur.

During raids conducted at the accused persons’ residences, police seized approximately 1 kilogram of gold ornaments and 4 kilograms of silver ornaments. In addition, nine mobile phones and 15 duplicate vehicle number plates used across different states were recovered.

According to Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar Rout, the estimated value of the seized gold ornaments is around ₹1.5 crore, while the silver ornaments are valued at approximately ₹15 lakh.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the gang was involved in robberies not only in Bhadrak but also in Jajpur, Keonjhar, Cuttack, Kendrapara, and Jagatsinghpur districts.

Police officials stated that further investigation is underway to ascertain the full extent of the gang’s criminal activities and to identify additional cases linked to the accused. Efforts are also being intensified to apprehend the two absconding members of the gang.
