4.3 Magnitude Earthquake Jolts Southern Iran Amid Ongoing Conflict

Desk (3 March 2026): Amid the ongoing U.S.-Israel conflict with Iran, a moderate earthquake struck southern Iran on Tuesday afternoon, adding to the tension already gripping the region.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), a 4.3-magnitude earthquake was recorded near Gerash in Iran’s Fars Province. The quake’s epicenter was located at a depth of approximately 10 kilometers beneath the Earth’s surface. Some reports, however, placed the magnitude slightly higher at 4.5.

The tremor was felt across parts of Fars Province, prompting residents to rush out of their homes in panic. With explosions and missile strikes already heightening fears due to the ongoing war situation, the earthquake further intensified anxiety among locals. Several videos of the tremors were shared on social media platforms, showing people gathered in open areas.

So far, there have been no reports of major damage, casualties, or injuries.

The USGS noted that southern Iran is a seismically active region, and the earthquake appears to be the result of natural tectonic activity rather than any conflict-related incident.

Authorities are monitoring the situation, while residents remain on alert amid both military tensions and natural seismic activity.
