Odia Author Dr. Sulagna Mohanty Recognized in #SheInspiresUs Campaign by PM Modi


Bureau (6 March 2018): Odia author and storyteller Dr. Sulagna Mohanty has been featured in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's #SheInspiresUs campaign, which aims to highlight inspiring women. The announcement was made today via a tweet from the Indian government's Twitter handle, MyGovIndia.

Dr. Sulagna Mohanty, who promotes Odia language and literature through social media, various publications, and her website/blog, is a storyteller and lecturer at Amrita University in Coimbatore. The campaign, launched in honor of the upcoming International Women's Day, acknowledges her efforts in promoting Odia literature and her role in raising funds for children affected by HIV.

Sulagna began her journey by writing short stories and essays on her Facebook page, Sulagna Speaks, and her website. Her serialized story "Bai Asuruni" gained popularity on Facebook. Her first Odia story collection, "Nalichuda," received much acclaim from Odia readers, with the stories also being broadcast on 104 Radio Chocolate. Her debut novel, "Anira Roshai Ghar," was also a success. Her next story collection, "Paridhi," is set to be published soon.

Expressing her gratitude upon receiving this recognition, Sulagna thanked everyone and shared that such encouragement motivates her to continue her work.
