Jagatsinghpur (11 March 2026): The district administration in Jagatsinghpur district has withheld the March salaries of 69 mandi nodal officers for remaining absent from their duties at procurement centres.
According to official sources, the decision was taken by the District Collector after reports of frequent absenteeism at mandis during the paddy procurement process. These nodal officers were responsible for overseeing operations and ensuring smooth functioning at the procurement centres.
The action affects officers deployed across eight blocks of the district. Authorities stated that their absence had disrupted mandi management and inconvenienced farmers visiting the centres to sell their produce.
The district administration has warned that strict disciplinary action will continue against officials who fail to perform their assigned duties during the procurement season. Officials have been instructed to remain present at mandis and ensure that procurement activities are conducted smoothly for farmers.
