Desk (11 March 2026): India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held an important discussion with Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister of Iran, amid the escalating tensions in West Asia.
Jaishankar shared details of the conversation on his Instagram account, stating that he spoke with Araghchi on Tuesday evening to discuss the prevailing situation in the region. Both sides agreed to remain in contact and continue communication regarding developments.
Following the discussion, it is expected that steps may be taken to assist Indian citizens and students currently stranded in Iran due to the ongoing conflict.
Earlier, the Government of India had issued travel advisories suggesting that Indian students could return home through the Armenia border. However, the Embassy of India in Iran clarified that such travel would have to be undertaken at the students’ own risk.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and exploring possible measures to ensure the safety and evacuation of Indian nationals if required.
