36th Death Anniversary of Hrudananda Mallik Observed in Bhadrak

Bhadrak, March 1, 2026: The 36th death anniversary of veteran leader and freedom fighter Hrudananda Mallik was observed with solemnity in Bhadrak on Saturday. A memorial meeting was organized to pay tribute to the late leader, where distinguished guests recalled his immense contribution to both India’s freedom struggle and Odisha’s political landscape.

Speakers at the event emphasized that Hrudananda Mallik was not only a prominent politician but also a dedicated freedom fighter. He joined the Indian freedom movement in 1942 and played an active role in mobilizing people during the struggle for independence. In 1945, he organized student gatherings in Balasore district, which significantly strengthened the freedom movement across northern Odisha.

In post-independence politics, Mallik remained actively associated with major regional political formations such as the Janata Dal and Utkal Congress. He later served as a Member of the Odisha Legislative Assembly, earning widespread respect for his commitment to public service.

He was elected from the Dhamnagar Assembly constituency in the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 10th Odisha Legislative Assemblies during the elections held in 1971, 1974, 1977, and 1990 respectively, reflecting his enduring popularity among the people.

During the tribute ceremony, speakers described him as a symbol of integrity, dedication, and grassroots leadership. They noted that his life and ideals continue to inspire future generations and urged young leaders to follow his path of selfless service and commitment to society.
